Our first Vacation
Would stay here again. All were very pleasant, nice hotel, and clean room. The only thing is there were not much activities as far as day and night entertainment. Would recommend anyone staying in St. Thomas to get an ALL-Inclusive package. Food can be very expensive, with this package we had no worries on budgetting, well worth it.
Awesome Hotel!
We just returned from our honeymoon here and it was a wonderful trip. The staff at the hotel was extremely nice and helpful. The food was a little over priced but it was that way everywhere on the island. When we arrived we were welcomed by the staff who was very friendly and helpful. They had us booked in a room with double beds but when we told them we were only suppossed to have one they upgraded us to an ocean view room at no extra charge. The pool area and beach were very clean and well maintained. If you go here I would recommend getting the breakfast option or all inclusive. We are already planning our next trip and we will be staying here again.
Location or Perks?
Okay, so by most people's standards, including mine, this is not a 5 or even a 4 star hotel, not by a long shot.... upon arrival I was given an ocean view room that smelled of mildew. When I called the front desk that quickly gave me another room, and this one was just fine. Now I can justify why it smelled of mildew, after all you are right on the water. I only ate at the Turtle Bar for a few snacks, and chose to eat in town and other places intead. The location to Red Hook and other places is great! You are almost right in the middle which makes taxiing a little bit better! I did not do the all-inclusive plan, and for the food that I saw at the different restaurants I would not recommend it. The pool was really nice and the option to sit and look at the beach and ocean was amazing! As far as a nightlife, there isn't one at the hotel, but that didn't bother me, I'd rather go into town and party away and be able to come back to the hotel and go to sleep without any noise. The beds are pretty firm, the bathroom is a decent size which makes it nice for more than one person to get ready at a time. All in all I'd rate this hotel about a 3. It was great for me b/c all I really did was sleep, and sit by the pool a few days. But for someone who is wanting a bunch of things to do without leaving the hotel, this one is not for you. If location is important to you and you don't mind a few drawbacks, this is a great hotel for you!
Worst hotel on earth!
lack of a sense of urgency to provide a high level of customer service. The staff was unfriendly and lack a general welcoming feeling. We arrived to carry our bags without so much as a welome to the wyndam! Most hotels exhibit a feeling of WELCOME! You are our guest and we are so happy to have you join us.....we waited over an hour to check in. The restaurants served sold and poorly presented food at a snails pace. How long does it actually take to prepare a hot dog anyway? There was a high level of debris and overall filth on the beach and not once in a week did we see anyone grab a rake and clean the beach. Broken glass, a single dirty black sock, fruit garnish from the myriad of plastic cups left strewn about the sand, broken glass every place you turned. In fact, I bet money that if you called the hotel and said you were a guest looking for your favorite black that someone would be able to retrieve it for you even today. Additionally, the guys running the water sports on the beach looked like a band of hooligans. Can you not spare the fees necessary to attire them in a clean looking polo shirt? One of the guys took his daily dip in the swimming pool then trucked it down to the beach. Astounding! We wanted to rent jet skis and we were told we would have to wait until he opened.... we are still waiting...When I addressed a few concerns with the front desk guest relations person, she explained to me that the hotel was not expecting
Wyndham, not for singles
The Wyndham was not my first choice, however I was not disappointed when I got there. The hotel grounds were breathtaking. The hotel upgraded our room for free and offered us the opportunity to upgrade futher for $25 extra. It was worth it. We stayed in an ocean view suite and the view was amazing. It was clean except for the carpet. The fitness center was small, but reasonable when if you got there before 9. The breakfast buffet at the Manor House was wonderful. Also enjoyed dinner at Caribe. If you're single, please don't go. The night life is non-existent. Poolside is beautiful, and the beach is ok until you want to get into the water. Very rocky. Stayed poolside most of the time. Service was ok. Actually, you either received excellent service or so-so. We called for room service and got placed on hold for 30 minutes. Then we requested extra towels and waited an hour and a half. The trip overall was relaxing and the Wydham was a beautiful place to be. The views were amazing. It seemed that you couldn't walk anywhere without running into a gorgeous view.
